COVID-19 UPDATE ABOUT YOUR INSURANCE COVER

Many New Zealanders are concerned about whether their life insurance will pay out should they pass away due to contracting the Coronavirus.
We will continue to update this page as the situation evolves.

Your Insurance Cover

AIA Insurance, Asteron Life, Fidelity Life and Partners Life cover pandemics.

No exclusion or out-clause would mean your policy would not pay out during a pandemic.

Life insurance covers customers for death or disability that results from injury or illness, and any claim arising from the coronavirus would be treated as any other illness.

What if I can’t afford life insurance payments due to covid-19?

We know that many families and business owners are concerned about the affordability of the insurance policy during this time.

I want to ensure you that we are working closely with our Life Insurance partners and can offer options to keep your valuable cover through this period.

Is Coronavirus a specified critical illness?

None of the trauma insurance policies in the New Zealand market specifically list Covid-19 as a critical illness.

If you need to make a claim, you will follow the same process as with other types of claims, including meeting the eligibility requirements and any special terms and conditions relating to your cover.

Will life insurance payout for the Coronavirus?

At LifeCovered, we compare New Zealand’s leading insurers: AIA Insurance, Asteron Life, Partners Life and Fidelity Life.

The above insurers have no exclusions for pandemics on a life insurance policy already in place.

Your loved ones will be eligible to receive your death benefit if you pass away from a pandemic illness, like Covid-19, if you have fulfilled your disclosure obligations and meet the terms of your cover.

If you’re uncertain of your coverage for coronavirus, please give our team a call on 0800 25 99 25.

If you need to make a claim

We know that the most important time with insurance is when you need to make a claim.
Despite the challenges created by COVID-19, we’re here when it matters most.
